The 90-minute series finale of HBO’s “Succession” pulled in the show’s largest single-night audience to date – helped along by a lot of talk surrounding the show in the lead-up to this airing.
The final episode of the Emmy-winning series on Sunday drew in 2.93 million viewers across all platforms, passing the previous series high of 2.75 million for the season’s sixth episode.
It’s also up by 68% over the season three closer which pulled in 1.7 million in cross-platform viewers back in late 2021. Overall the fourth season has averaged 8.7 million viewers per episode, up from 7.2 million viewers for the third season.
The story is a little different for “Barry” which aired its series finale directly after the jumbo-sized “Succession” finale. It had 700,000 on Sunday night which was on par with the season.
The episode’s late start also saw the episode’s second-day viewing figures rise by 20% above usual. In total, “Barry” has averaged 3.4 million viewers per episode this season.
Both shows pale in comparison to other recent HBO hits like “The Last of Us” with 30.4 million viewers per episode and “House of the Dragon” at 29 million viewers per episode.
