“Succession” star Brian Cox is set to serve as the host of “007’s Road to a Million,” the upcoming James Bond reality competition series for Amazon Prime. It marks the first TV series based on MGM’s biggest franchise.
The award-winning Cox will play the enigmatic ‘The Controller’ on the forthcoming series in which contestants compete in two-person teams in a global adventure to win a $1.3 million cash prize in historical locations featured throughout the various Bond films from Scotland to Jamaica to Venice, Italy.
In addition to passing physical obstacles, the contestants must correctly answer questions hidden in different locations around the world in order to advance to the next challenge.
The Controller is described as “villainous and cultured” and revels in “the increasingly difficult journeys and questions the contestants must overcome.” The Controller also has up to £1m per couple on offer, but he doesn’t make it easy.
Cox says in a statement: “I enjoyed my role as both villain and tormentor, with license to put the hopeful participants through the mangle.”
Amazon Studios, Eon Productions, 72 Films, and MGM Alternative are all producing with plans to launch later this year.
